Beyonce and husband, Jay-Z, took some time off from her hectic touring schedule across Europe with the Mrs. Carter Show to pay a visit to the historic Anne Frank House.
Anne Frank’s home, in which she and her family hid from Nazi persecutors to escape the Jewish Holocaust, has since been turned into a musuem. A teenager at the time, Anne is now-famous for the widely published, Diary of Anne Frank, retrieved after her family was betrayed to the Dutch police and sent to the concentration camps.
Today, as an international monument, visitors are able to tour the “Secret Annex,” or the hidden rooms at the back of the building, and view an exhibition of Anne Frank’s life and learn more about persecution of the Jewish people that took place under the Nazi regime during World War II.
According to the officials at the Anne Frank House, Beyonce and Jay-Z spent about an hour touring the grounds, and were deeply moved by the experience. Beyonce took a few photos to commemorate her visit, including the signing of the famous guest book.
