Beyonce slayed her competition and had us all running to our computers on December 13th 2013 when she dropped her surprise album with no notice whatsoever! But why no GRAMMY nominations for this masterpiece, I hear you ask?
Unfortunately, Beyonce missed the cut off date by a couple of months. The eligibility period for the 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards is October 1, 2012 to September 30, 2013. She might be a little over 2 months out for this year but she is firmly in the eligibility period for the 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards and we’re predicting another record breaking night for her in 2015.
In 2010, Queen B became the first female artist to win 6 GRAMMY awards in one night from her I Am…Sasha Fierce. Adele matched this in 2012.
Fear not though, Beyhive! Beyonce is set to be performing alongside husband Jay Z at the award show on Sunday.
Bey might not be nominated for her surprise self titled album this year but she is nominated alongside Jay for their collaboration from Magna Carta Holy Grail – On the Run.
Jay Z will be representing the Carter household with his 9 nominations this year. Right now, Jay Z and Bey have 17 GRAMMYs each so it looks like Jay might just get the edge on her this year!
What song would you want to see them perform together this Sunday?
